Anthias Died :_(

My beautiful anthias died. I'm heartbroken!
0 nitrite, 0 ammonia, nitrates in acceptable range, salinity and pH were fine, mind you I tested on Sunday and I'm back at university until Thursday. Tank is ~10 gallons with a porcelain crab, cleaner shrimp, lawnmower blenny, and a couple soft corals. I'm thinking it's because I wasn't feeding enough? I'm seeing things online about how the anthias should be fed a few times a day and I wasn't doing anywhere near that. Feel awful Any other ideas? I want to get another one, I love that fish

what kind of anthia was it? Was it a young/small one?

oh wow, anthias belong in 60-70 ish gallon tanks, you're tank is way too small. They have fast metabolism and need 2-3 meals per day at least, but they are pigs and will eat non-stop. They are also very picky about food choice at first, they don't just eat anything, its very important to watch a new anthias eat and might need to train it. They also need good water quality and I have found they will suffer in 'dirtier' water.

easy there, we don't have enough info from the OP to call in the anthia police. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt until we know more.

Yeah, seeing I was ignorant, should have done more research.

Yeah, seeing I was ignorant, should have done more research.

My first fish in this hobby was a yellow tang in a 32 gallon 17 years ago. It lasted 3 days. It’s sad but many of us have done it. Can only do better next time.
