Id like to get two Anthias to add to my 50 cube and would like recommendations on what which would be a good choice.

Do I have to stick with same species or can I mix without aggression?

I currently have two clowns and one royal gramma.

Thanks,

PS: are they jumpers? Will I need a screen top?

Not really recommended for a small tank but i can't talk I added them to my past 55 gallon tank. The lyretail anthias are cool and I rather have you add 2 of these than some hippo tangs

Anthias are great fish. Colors are beautiful. They need to feed frequently. I have two sunset anthias and they are great together. Got them as a pair. I have not had any issues with them jumping unlike my wrasses. They like cyclops and will eat LRS frozen food.

Ill share my experience at the risk of somebody yelling at me on here...

I have a 50 cube and added three Lyretails (please don’t judge). It was a stupid suggestion by my LFS. I asked multiple times if they would pick each other off slowly over time. They said that they shouldn’t in my size tank.

From my experience, you would probably be ok with one Lyretail in a 50. That’s all I have left after 5 months and he does actually seem pretty happy in my tank. Not aggressive toward my other fish at all. The other two seemed to be doing fine for a couple months but the smallest was slowly harassed to death, especially during feeding, until only one of three remained.

I would either just get one, or look into other options for fish in the upper water column.

I have 1 male lyretail and 3 females. The 3 females eat spectrum pellets aswell as LRS reef frenzy. The male only eats LRS and pods

I mix a homemade fresh food - Rods food, pellets, mysis, plankton mix, coral food, aminos, and whatever else I can find into cubes. Will there be plenty in this mix to make them happy if fed twice a day?

So no lyretails...possibly Dispar/sunset/resplendent /Other types? Maybe a pair, at most 3.

A trio of resplendent or dispar would work. They are more peaceful than lyretails and relatively hardy.

Try feeding the same quantity of food normally for the day, but spread the food out over more feedings. They could almost be fed a little every hour during the time you are home.

Well since I work all day, I am only able to feed at 7am and 5pm so will they be fine with that schedule?

I would suggest adapting your light schedule so that you can enjoy your tank when you are home, so let's say you get home at 5pm and your lights go off at 9pm, that would allow you to feed them 3-4x a day.
