So I have 3 female red bar anthias and the largest one is transitioning to a male. She/he seems to bounce in and out from female to male fairly randomly which I understand is normal until she fully transitions over to a male. Any ideas on how long that process takes.? It's been several weeks now. Thanks.

Months and months and my transitioning lyretail F-M is still "stuck" in change limbo. Currently 1 Male-ish + 2 females. I see the doral fin and slight change in color and markings, but that's it for months now. They been in my 180 for 4 months. I'm waiting to see this finish out so I can add another anthias type.

Same here. Been months and still nothing permanent. She seems to go back and forth whenever she feels like it. And she can change on a dime. When she is a male it’s very obvious between coloration, shape of fins and pursuing the other females. Get on with it already. :)
