Anthias lover's thread

Randalls will get along best, the pink square will 'swim through' a group of anthias, but beyond that won't bother them. Squamipinnis will be social with them, but over time may pick on the ignitus.

Pretty much it.. I have ignitus and they are peaceful and mix with pretty much anything but my male Lyretail will go after them sometimes even though he shoals with them all the time. My female lyretail sits by herself most of the time.. My male lyretail is little and I worry a little bit when he gets bigger. My male ignitus is way bigger than him for now and keeps him in place for now.

I love my male lyretail. He is awesome. I'm thinking about adding a couple females as well.

@eatbreakfast Do you have a preference between randalls or dispar? Are the personalities and hardiness fairly similar? Would they be good tank mates for a bunch of fairy/flasher wrasses?

Originally I wanted to go with 6-7 dispars in my future build but then I saw a pic of the randalls!! They're phenomenal looking.

Originally I wanted to go with 6-7 dispars in my future build but then I saw a pic of the randalls!! They're phenomenal looking.

I like both fairly equally. Their care and temperaments are comparable. They go well with fairy and flasher wrasses.

I have 8 Bartlett's Anthias in a tank which also contains 3 wrasses. There is a ridiculous amount of splashing at meal times, I have to near simultaneously put food in at at least two locations to keep them from jostling so much.

Repost: is the fish on the right a Dispar or Carberryi? I bought it as a Dispar but thr color is so much different than the true Dispar on the left.

Those are beautiful. Look like respendents, but kind of large maybe. With these guys I would not do copper. Granted I never do copper. They will need feeding very often. Maybe autofeeder with small zoo/phyto and brine/mysis.

I was considering the Borbonius but heard they take a long time to acclimate and some may never eat prepared foods. And plus Anthias needing to be fed several times a day, guess I’ll skip.

If you are really interested in keeping anthias then get the Plank auto feeder from Avast. It makes it so easy. I have mine set to feed 4 times a day with TDO small. Then I feed mysis and eggs when I get home in the evening. I have 5 lyretail and 1 bimac doing well. Have 3 new anthias on their way.

Awesome! How long have you had yours and how many do you have? Are they easy to feed?

This one isn’t mine (but I did take the pic). The last one I had was for over a year-but grad school struck and the tank went downhill fast. It Ate everything and was an awesome fish. I’m jJust in the midst of a tank upgrade that is going much slower than I anticipated. Will definitely be getting another one when it’s ready

They’re great fish. good luck with your next one. Personally I think a pair or trio would be even better.
