Just picked up 4 lyretail anthias that I know have been alive at the lfs for at least 14 days, possibly 21.

They are SUPER stressed. I placed them all in a dark qt tank, no medications added as I usually observe first. The smallest female was nearly white when I got her out of the bag and she didn't make it much longer.

The male is badly discolored but looks stable, the two remaining females have decent color and are moving around a little. For the most part they are all just hiding.

The QT tank has pvc hides, decent water movement and an air stone. I've left it fairly dark and tried not to disturb them much. There's a towel covering 3 sides to give extra security.

I'm reading that anthias can overstress very easy. My typical worry with this lfs is ich, never had anything else pop up from them. I see no signs of disease at the moment, just stress coloration.

1) if they had urenema or some other major issue, shouldn't it have likely popped up during the time they were at the lfs?

2) Is there any other explanation for the quick death other than transport stress/trauma?

3) What is my best chance to keep everyone alive? Leave them be? Shorten QT?

i would treat them with metro anyway even if you dont see uronema and anthias mostly dont do well in QT ive noticed at least for me im at 50% so far started with 2 carberryi anthias lost in one in QT then i tried 2 squarespot anthias lost one the next day in QT the remaining 2 are doing great now. i just got another female squarespot anthias in today shes in QT so keeping my fingers crossed she makes it through QT

That's what kills me. I used to not QT at all, but decided to change tactics with the new system, as I really don't wanna try to treat or remove fish from a 90 gal.

I'll keep the metro in mind. I'm feeding metro/focus laced food (forgot to originally mention that). Would you direct treat with metro as well?

yea ive always read chromis and anthias are uronema magnets so i always treat with metro in the water for 10 days then i give 2 doses of prazipro i dont use copper unless i see they need it but thats a personal preference

Yea i used to not QT at all and never had any problems years ago but back in november my tank got velvet lost all my fish so now im afraid it will happen again so i QT all fish

I tend to usually just do observation QT, but I'm not as familiar with anthias. And I agree. I don't use copper unless I have too.
