I picked up four anthias, two dispar and two lyretails about a week ago. They quickly vanished into the rockwork not to be seen. FINALLY today one has come out. Are these normally shy fish or does it just take awhile to get comfy?

Hiding is pretty normal in my experience, but mine have always adjusted and swam together. I think tank mate aggression can play a role. But Anthias seem to encourage other shy fish to be more bold/active as they mature in the tank.

My sunset anthias swim around all the time. A week seems kinda long to get comfy unless something is chasing them. They need to eat a lot so you should see them swimming.

Most of community peaceful fish always hide when in new tank and only come out of their shell after weeks later, when they are become bold they commonly doing carpet surfing :)

The tank mates consist of a purple tang, diamond goby, and a pair of maroons. Can’t fathom any of them is aggressive towards any fish... except another clown or tang [emoji6]my HUGE Goldflake Maroon would murder a clown in short order [emoji4]

I have about 12 fish in my tank. I see them chase each other at times but that's just how they are. Nothing crazy if don't see it, then that probably isn't the issue. I would give it some time. Hopefully they are eating as they need to eat several times a day and they like cyclops.

It looks like there scared or timid from possible aggression from other tank mates. The lyretail I had was always out when I fed PE Cyclops, he couldn't resist the red pods scattering around. Maybe that will coax them out of hiding.

Anthias can be pretty shy, dispar probably more than lyretail.

Maroons and a purple tang may have them feeling reticent. Make sure food gets to their corners, if you can.

That’s what I’ve been doing, turning pumps off so they can get the food. You’re correct, the lyretail is FAR less timid, dramatically so. Thanks for the advice!

Tank looks amazing @Liquid360. I have show the purple tang too. Lol.

Thank you! Yeah purple tangs are just awesome and beautiful fish! I’ve had Wu since he/she was the size of a dime. Wu has survived two catastrophic tank failures, one with complete loss of water for a solid 10min. My warrior fish.

I've got 7 Lyretails in my system and sometimes they're all together, sometimes they're spread all over the place, and sometimes they're just hanging out in the rock work. As long as they're eating I wouldn't worry much.
