Does anyone have a 30 gallon breeder tank 36 x 18 x 12? The dimensions seem to be great for a frag tank. I'm about to purchase this but am wondering why this tank is not popular. There aren't many build threads out there. If there are some challenges with this dimension like there are challenges with a 55 gallon tank, I'd like to know before I buy it :)

Other tanks I'm considering are the 50 gallon low boy or the Deep Blue/Seapora tanks that are 3-4 feet long and 12 inches high but they are hard to find around me. Are there other shallow options out there?

Do you have any of the other equipment yet? Lights (think coverage), pumps (think flow), types of corals, and cost are all factors related to tank dimensions - view all the pieces as a system. Personally I am considering the 50g lowboy. Good luck!

Yup got everything since I already have a running tank. I'd likely shut down my display until I move and just utilize the frag tank. I have 2 LEDs good enough for 48 inches long, 4 wavemakers, and a variety of corals (zoas, acans, acros, etc)

If I have my measurements right then here are the dimensions of the following tanks:
30g breeder - 36 x 18 x 13
40g breeder - 36 x 18 x 17
50g lowboy - 48 x 24 x 10

When you look at your lights then it sounds like it can cover the full length of the 50g lowboy frag tank - will they be able to cover the 24" width adequately (if its close maybe you can put some lower light corals on the side)? The 4 wave makers should give you good current in any of the tanks including the 50g. IMO, the biggest challenge with the 30g is finding one. Based on your current equipment I would encourage you to at least take a look at the 50g lowboy. Good luck!

I want a 30b for my frag tank. Im using a 40b now but a 30b would be even better imo. Just can't find them in my area! Same as i want a 40 long for a sump but they also dont seem to exist where I live lol.

I have to drive about an hour to get a 30b but I did find a place. Also $100 but I have never seen it at a Petco and the $1 per gallon sale
