Any acro that beats meteor shower cyphastrea?

I know a very specific question but I have a giant rock of meteor shower cyphastrea that's taking up some real estate in my tank. I'd love to to glue an acro frag or two on it but I don't want to put anything on it that will eventually lose out to it.

I've already tossed a couple different pieces of acro on it as testers and they were all roasted by the next day.

Anybody know of something that will win? Well, other than hydnophora. Haha.

Dang! Good thing I chipped a giant sunset colony off my rocks a month ago. It was on my other rock structure and was slowly killing my acro bases as it encrusted. It might be time to say goodbye to the cyphastrea as well. I'm starting to think I need to evict all encrusters!

Or just be careful about what add and where you put them. I recently nuked all sorts of various encrusting monti's from my rock work. Even the prettiest coral can turn into a weed once is starts to get big and kill other corals.

Don't try Red Planet, Meteor shower will take it out too. It takes out Monti Setosa too. I just scrape it back to the line I have decided it will not cross. The only thing I have seen keep it totally in check is Jawbreaker mushrooms. (I'm sure any other discosoma would do the same) Zoanthids will keep it at bay but it will evenually grow around the stalks and around the polyps. That's kind of cool, actually. Luckily for me, I started these out low but I now have to keep the PPE cyphastrea scraped back because it is getting close to some acro frags.

Here is a picture of the zoas - in the case palys. Captain Americas vs PPE cyphastrea - kind of look like Dr Seuss trees. And the shrooms keeping it in check while I'm at it.

I hear that - I should have stopped these when they started up the side of the rockwork. I learned my lesson with encrusting Montis and chalices with my last tank, they are all on the bottom away from the rockwork now. I still keep them though.

Just chipped off a chunk of the meteor shower cyphastrea and that will that much less to worry about.

Well, it's ginormous (12" x 8") but luckily on its own rock. I'm just running out of spots to stick acros so I wanted to claim some space back.

It's a tad too big to chip it off at this point. I'd just replace the rock and sell it off. It's just so pretty that I wanted to see if I could keep it in the shadows with acros towering over it.

Buy a cheap chalice say Hollywood stunner and place it in the middle of it. It will burn the coral over night. Move it around until it's mostly dead. Give chalice away. Place two part epoxy or superglue over remaining spots. Then add a nice efflo in that spot

I like the thought but the coral is worth more alive than dead. At that point, I think I'd just take the rock out, cut off the cyphastrea, sell it off, then use that money to buy the acros that will fill in behind it. Haha.

At its current position, it will not encrust over anything. The giant rock its on is not touching any other rock. It just sits there by itself.

I was just hoping to find an acro to put on that rock to take some of the real estate back. I appreciate the idea though rossco!

Found a solution. Floating acros! Well, I haven't removed the rock support on one of them but you get the idea. Can't get my precious acros now cyphastrea! [emoji48]
