So I just purchased an existing 20gal aquarium tall from a local kid in my area. It was in really bad shape. The kid lost interest in the tank and it really showed. He had a heater for a 5gal. The water was cold and the little clown fish that was in it looked like he's seen better days. The tank was smothered in green hair algae. So I bought 5 gallon buckets and moved the tank to my house. I scrubbed the walls and the 20lbs of live rock that came with it. I did a 10% water change using RO/DI water. I purchased 5 astrea snails 3 blue legs hermits and 3 red legs. The tank is now at 82 degrees. The clown fish seems more active and the water looks really clear. The tank has a hang on back filter typical lights and a thermometer. The tank came with a testing kit that only measured ph and nitrites. pH was 7.8 and nitrites didn't even register. Salinity was 1.019 when I got the tank and I mixed the new water to 1.022. I haven't had a chance to check everything again today. I don't really have any questions I'm just looking for any advice to help me get this tank reef ready besides equipment. I only want to put softies and "easier" corals in it.
