Any advice to cool tank down

Hey everyone pretty new to the hobby, started about a year ago with a 37g just upgraded to a 65g...wondering what would be my best options to keep the tank at a good temp besides having my air conditioners constantly going..thanks in advance for any help and constructive criticism

It is a pain sometimes haha. At times I stick a small fan over my sump. But my tank (knock on wood) stays at a good temp. Somebody will be along shortly

If you can keep your Ac at least 78 to 79 inside. And use a fan on sump you can keep your tank around 78 in the summer. I live in Sacramento ca. Where it gets around 103 for allot of the summer. Even with MH lighting on my old 180 I could keep temp down. my current 125 I have no fan and keep Ac at 78 when not home. And tank stays cool with led. There was a few times my 180 got to 81, 82. So I would keep frozen 2 liter bottles in fridge for emergencys. I know some people run there tanks that warm but I like to leave a little room for those hot days so I try and run my tank at 78

I'll be following along. This last fall I moved into a house that does not have central air and I was wondering the same thing. AFAIK the only options are A/C or a chiller. I'm sure a combination of the two would be best, but costly. We still haven't got the A/C units yet... should probably do that.

A cheap 2 speed clip on fan from WalMart will work wonders. I was able to sell my 1/4 HP chiller and use just fans with proper placement blowing across the longest surface. The downside is evaporation but I would rather add water than have a $400 power bill and ATO's are pretty inexpensive.

You can also change over to led lights. Makes a world of difference. It runs much cooler and lasts years without loosing intensity.

I like LED... used them for 3 years before switching back to T5. LED has shadowing issues, BUT that's another topic

Even if we used LED it is not going to cool our tank down when the temp gets above 80, which is the topic.

When I ran t-5 my tank would always get hot.on warm days of summer I would run a small fan over sump. On days where it was really hot I would freeze ro/di in 2 liter bottles and float them in tank.kinda ugly but it did the trick.

I use a muffin fan on top of eggcrate.

Causes evaporation of about a gallon a day. Allows me to top off with kalkwasser.

You never said how hot your tank was getting. I know most think you have to have 78 degrees but a steady 83 or so works fine. I've let my tank hit as high as 84 during the summer months and about 77 during the winter months and one has not been better than the other. Many reefs get hotter than 78. The main thing is to avoid big temp swings. That can be a problem.
