Any Bare-bottom Regrets?

I think bare bottom tanks look cool...I prefer sand. If its an sps tank and you want to blast with flow go BB. If you have the right CUC and maintenance habits sand is no problem. Having a mixed reef with bottom dwellers is why I have sand..best of all worlds.

Only regret would be limiting wrasse options. Sure people inquire why there is no sand, but the reality is in many reefs its all rock and no sand.



Do you have any pictures of the false bottom? Sounds interesting!

I ended up taking it out within a year. Too much algae growth and was even more of a pain than the sand.

No regrets on my predator tank. I drilled three holes in the tank. Two ends act as skimmers and the center one I ran down the back to the bottom put a "t" fitting and two strainers. Keeps the whole tank clean. My other tanks I put sand so I could keep sand dwellers.
