i have a Biocube 32 LED. Cycled with 60 pounds live sand an 25 pounds of KP Aquatics live rock. I just bought two teeny weeny Captive bred Clarkii babies. The tank has a Tunze 9001 skimmer, Intank media rack and Tunze Osmolator nano for top off. I’m beginning the two part dosing with Seachem parts A and B plus magnesium when needed.

I plan on adding an anemone and dedicating the tank to the nem and clowns. My question is this.... can I successfully keep an anemone under the stock lighting. I would rather not spend the money for an upgrade but realize I might have to. Have anyone of you kept the stock lighting on your nems?

Thanks

Yes, we have two in ours and done great with the stock lights before we upgraded to Steve's LEDs

The ONLY reason we upgraded lights is because the wife wanted to expand into harder to grow corals. From my experiance with the Biocube stock lighting you will be fine.

Cool. Just out of curiosity, why Steve’s over some others like Nanobox?

The reason why I want the nems in the Biocube is because I have a 60 cube stocked with SPS and the last nem we had stung them all. I love nems and clowns so I gave them their own tank.

My wife had several people recommend Steve's on her Facebook so that is the light she wanted to go with. I never heard of Nanobox until after the fact. I have never seen them in action.

Stock light will be mostly OK. But you are better off with something else if you are shooting for sps in future. Kessil A360, AI prime, nano box, radion are all legit options. I'll suggest adding an mp10 or icecap1K sooner or later as well. Rest of your setup sounds awesome :-). open hood will help in cooling as well (in case thats a concern)

I already have an SPS dominant 60 cube which is why I don’t want to put nems in it. :) I also have a few wavepucks, etc for when the nems arrive! I haven’t bought any yet but I did purchase two little Clarkii babies. I’m gonna get them settled in for a bit.

I started a biocube 32 last August and recently moved everything over to a 60g as I quickly ran out of room. As mentioned above, Steve's LED is a great light upgrade, and as someone else also mentioned, topless is an option.
Towards the end of my 32 g tank I picked up a set of HD26 lights for a good deal and ended up taking the biocube topless with one of those lights just to see them on action.
I mention this because if you do look into different lights, seriously consider going topless and go th Kessil or other myriad of options for open to tank lights because that gives you the option to carry those lights with you to a new tank someday.

If you do decide to go Topless and ATO is strongly suggested. With the lid on, I added a few cups of water a week. With it off, it was 5x as much.

Great tank, enjoy!

Thanks. I have an ATO but not sure I’ll need it. I thought abt removing the top but really like the sleek look of it. For now I’ll leave it as is. We already have a 60 cube SPS dominant tank, a softy 16 cube and two freshwater community tanks. Hubby would kill me if I got something else. ;)
