I am trying to decide on which alkalinity controller to go with. I’ve only got the budget to do this right the first time lol. Does anyone with the KH Guardian specifically have any complaints, issues, or regrets?

I don't own one, but I have been in market for a device and after all I have read and seen I have come down to kh pro. I haven't read anything bad about it yet.

They were the only ones in market and didn't have too many people buying them at $1,300. Now they got competition there are at least half a dozen devices that are coming out this year at half the rate and more features and in some cases more tests. Just a simple economic law of demand. If they don't come down to the price they are at they will never be able to settle a single unit past few months.

Just seems like I would have heard about it somewhere and people would be all over it at the new price point. They are marked down over 50% on coralvue’s website. Third party sellers still have them listed at the normal price.

I think it's because of the news from neptune that came out like last week they they would allow people to upgrade apex brains and the price point for the trident. It will monitor alk, cal, and mag whereas the kh guardian only does alk. Plus less intuitive apex integration. They're trying to get more of the product out there at a more competitive price before they get a formidable competitor enters the game this year, is my guess.

Well, it worked, since I ordered the KH Guardian Pro with controller module for $599 last night [emoji4]
If the Trident is anything like the last several big ticket items that Neptune rolled out, it won’t be available until next year at earliest, possibly later. I am glad to see they offer the “brain only” upgrade, but that’s still added expense (although one I will likely be making sooner or later anyway). And I have a feeling they are going to want you to buy a DOS in order to seamlessly integrate controlling alk in response to the Trident testing.

IMHO -unless price for the Trident will be the same or lower as these ALK monitors its not worth it. If you dose 2 part correctly Ca rarely gets out of line and if it did it’s slowly. With a CaRx it’s note even a concern at all. Same for Mg most test it once a month and just manual dose if needed.
So why spend more than the really important parameter ALK? And BTW- keep in mind it’s not just the cost of the device, there is a periodic expense as well with the reagents. Doubt Trident will do all three with one reagent. Likely a few. I’m just guessing. I love Neptune products but we also have to look at pocket.

I agree, Alk is the only thing that is tested for regularly. Cal and mag are tested rarely in an established system. Maybe once or twice a month. Just to test Alk regularly one will have to upgrade Apex then buy trident then maybe DOS. A huge expense by the end of the day to achieve just Alk monitoring not even dosing and automatically adjusting.
Reagents are sold in packs of all three for 2 months quantity. If I was to have such it would be a complete waste for reagents and money on Cal and mag part as my tank is super solid on Cal at 440 and mag at 1600. Alk is also very solid between 7.5 to 7.75 range.
Kh guardian has advantage as it's a monitor and adjuster on its own. Trident is just a monitor and does not adjust till you program a doser to do so youself.
My 2 cents.
