Any corals can tolerate really high flow?

I wanted what you wanted in my 30 gal, torch and hammer garden with a gsp back wall. Ended up loosing hammers to torch stings and bought to much at once before my tank even got the chance to mature. I’d say add the beginner corals like gsp/Duncan and see how they react to the flow/params. I honestly would buy a smaller wave maker, point it at the top of the water, and have to bounce gently off the glass side. Should create a sort of ripple within euphyllia. Had huge euphyllia colonies but lost them to a tank move.

I'm going slow. Just got my first corals, GSP and a mushroom. Have them in the Sandbed.. Haven't even placed them yet.

This is exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm debating moving the WaveMaker, or placing a piece of foam around it.

If I go the foam route, that area right in front of the WaveMaker is still going to be high direct flow, so this is good to know. Thank you!

I agree with bird's-nest. Also monti. Maybe favias. I'll be honest, in my experience, from having a high flow tank as well with softies is that they will adapt. My leathers and torches literally looked like they were going to blow away when I first started them in this new tank. Now they just wave gently. My flow isn't quiet as strong as yours...I'm at 32x turn over rate. But everything is happy and healthy and growing. I'd say play with it. That's the fun of the hobby. Good luck!

Sinularia dura, the cabbage coral. There is a fluorescent green variety. They love flow and light. It won't grow too fast and become an umbrella like other leathers.

Hi there .not read all thread so unsure if this been mentioned or not.
But if you able to point power head towards surface and at same time have on a angle facing the glass it will bounce your flow around the rockwork but still have flow and towards surface will take some of the flow off it and also help with good gas exchange through surface agitation .

Imo having good surface agitation and more dissolved 02 in our tanks is very beneficial ( ovbiously need good 02 in room where tank is and not high co2 from lots of people or pets breathing )

I have the same tank and a Nero 3 in the same spot as yours. I'm running different settings throughout the day, but it peaks at about 46% in wave mode which is about 1250gph. Closest to the wavemaker I have monti digitata, birdsnest, and a couple of acros. They are thriving in the flow as you'd expect.

My frogspawn, hammers, candy canes, and duncans are on the opposite side of the tank (same side as the overflow) and the rockwork serves as a buffer from the flow. I have hairy mushrooms, a GSP rock, and some zoas that are doing just fine in the pretty direct flow too. I'd say 40% on your powerhead should be plenty fine for most of what you want to grow - I'd only hesitate to put the euphyllia in the direct flow. The rest should be able to handle it.

I can't point it. But I'm thinking out it behind the rocks or blowing back to front against the glass to diffuse it.

This is amazing! Thanks, that gives me great hope.

Next wc I'm going to change my powerhead position to diffuse with glass and rocks.
