I'm upgrading my tank (from 200 gal to ~475 gal) and building a smallish fish room for the filtration, etc. I want to go "all out" and am thinking of adding UV. The thing is, I've never ran one before, and want to hear from those in the know regarding their benefits and potential negative (if any). Would love any additional feedback or advice on how to implement on my new system.

Thanks!

Negatives are cost, added heat and potential elimination of beneficial swimming things. Latter probably moot unless you are adding phyto/pods.

I do like to periodically add pods and phyto to my current system. Maybe there’s a way I can separate my fuge from the UV line in a way to mitigate loss. Thanks for the idea!
