Im planning in an sps dominant tank with just a few lps and a clam. Planning on a simple supplementation method. As Brightwell aquatics Kalk+2 has both mag and sr, does any one has any experience with it? As for trace, ill add seachem reefpuls or Aquavitro fuel. No water changes.

Total marketing BS. Those are naturally occurring elements (impurities?) in calcium hydroxide. Just get some Mrs. Wages lime. In my system I would have to use nearly 9 gallons of kalkwasser daily to keep up with demand. No thanks! Also, unless it's s smaller system or your corals don't grow quickly. I also wouldn't assume you need a trace element supplement...

Worked the same as anynother kalk for me. I ended up juat using BRS kalk due to cost and quality. Using 2 part theses day due to better control of alk.

And to add, I don't believe the magnesium and potassium as they exist with calcium hydroxide is usable by the corals, so it's pretty shady the way Brightwell promotes it.

What about using the Kalk - as a supplementation for just boosting the PH? I suffer from low PH generally speaking and I hate my PH swings. I didn't want to go the route of a KalkReactor but opted for a dosing container and using the K+2 stuff. I haven't started using it yet but I was hoping to put it on a doser and have it dose throughout the day. I have a ca/rx doing the bulk of the heavy lifting and was hoping to use it to boost the PH.

any thoughts on that?

For your CA reactor do you utilize a second chamber that effluent goes through that has additional media to remove some CO2? If not it's something worth considering. I never suggest chasing PH numbers unless you're abnormally low and can show CO2 buildup is an issue. There are plenty of aquariums out there that do amazing with a PH in the 7.7-8.0 range...

Yeah I'm using a second chamber but I was using the wrong media IMHO. I replaced all my media with reborn and replaced the second chamber media with the reborn fine media. -

Its not necessarily that i'm chasing the PH is just that I did notice better growth and system stability through the winter when my PH was steadily in the 8's and when this summer came and i stopped opening the window near the tank in that room my PH fluctuates too much.
