Any feedback on the Zetlight Lancia LED system?

Hi, while browsing through all different LED options and manufacturors I observed huge differences in price. The specific question I have relates to the Zetlight Lancia, it is really affordable, making me wonder if it is any goood? Quality ok? Spectrum fits the bill? Any feedback from people using this in a mixed reef tank would be appreciated. Thanks!

The Lancia 2 at 36 watts it sound a bit light weight except for over a 12" deep tank. And it has too many white leds and not enough blue. But that's just my opinion.

It helps, but if your tank is 18" or more in depth, I'd be looking for a fixture with 3 watt leds. Current Orbit runs lots and lots of 0.5 watt leds in their fixtures and they still do NOT penetrate the water very well. But that's just my 2 cents.

Thanks for replying again Ron. Any suggestions regarding brands? What would you use for this depth? Or vice versa, what depth can be covered by the Zetlight?

First, I don't know how deep your tank is?

I would say this Zetlight is OK for any depth if it's fish only. Maybe 18" deep for zoas and softies (maybe even some lps). And only 12" to 14" for sps.

You can get great light from the BB (Black Box) leds like Mars Aqua and Viparspectra. If you want more control, i.e. sunrise/sunset and/or 6 channels of color control, you'll need to go to Reef Breeders Photon V2+. It's the lowest cost 'high end' fixture. It's what I use, but I like having the control. However, your corals really don't care at all about sunrise/sunset and the BB fixtures have enough blue spectrum to make corals happy.

Tank will be 20 inch deep Ron. Thanks for the tips, going to look at it tonight. And the corals might not care, I like a nice sunrise and sunset!

You are right. HOWEVER, go look up EverGrow. They make the fixture and sell it themselves everywhere outside the US. The IT5000 series has a couple of different leds, I think they include some true UV (below 400nm). But it's 98% the same fixture. I have 3 Photons and 1 has been in use for about 4 years now. They work great, are very reliable, grow coral very well and even look modern.
