Any general tips for placing coral into display tank?

It has been a long 76 days! My coral has grown well in the QT and it is ready to come out Wednesday. They are all on drag plugs. I am going to review articles on each species today, but I would appreciate any general tips for placing them. I am thinking about using a Dremel tool to trim the plugs down to a minimal size before placing and / or gluing the plugs to the live rock. Is that ok? On my zoa plug I was thinking about cutting the disc into 2 or 3 pieces to spread out the 20 or so heads. Is that ok? Thanks for any advice.

Don't glue anything yet and read up on proper placement on whatever your getting

Often best to place them all fairly low, even in the sandbed, and move them up toward the lights over time to acclimate to the light.

I don't know how well the plugs dremel, but can say for certain that you don't want to take the threat posed by zoanthids lightly. Cutting those guys with a dremel would put aerosolized palytoxin all around you!

If I cut it outside holding my breath wearing latex gloves it should be fine right?

Don't forget your safety goggles . . .

And even then, I'd be right nervous.

I think there might be better ways to frag zoanthids.
