Any Hippo Doctors in the House?

My Blue Hippo seems to have hurt himself overnight it appears. He has this lump on his button left side and its affecting his left fin. He still swims around but struggles. I am not worried but would like to know what you guys think it is. Maybe he slept wrong lol.

His left fin works but is always in the upright position. May be dislocated.

Oh man! That's some swelling there. It's hard to tell what might have caused it... maybe it got stung by a coral or scraped on a rock/ I dont see any scrapes or anything, but I can't see the whole area. Epsom salt will help bring the swelling down. Might give it a try


Epsom Salt: Treats eye and other injuries. Popeye in one eye usually means injury, but popeye in both eyes usually denotes a bacterial infection requiring antibiotic treatment. Cloudy eye can be a bacterial infection or flukes.

How To Treat - 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of aquarium water. Repeat only once, if necessary. Use only “USP” grade Epsom salt.

Pros - Reef safe, as Epsom salt is just magnesium sulfate.

Cons/Side Effects - The effects of excessive sulfate in a reef aquarium are not fully known.

X2. Keep it fed and parameters as optimal as possible but also keep stress to a minimum. A healthy established hippo is a VERY hardy fish. He should be fine. Epsom salt is a good move.

I will keep feeding my hippo as usual. I too do not see any scrapes of any sort. He is still eating as normal but just looks like he's storing nuts in his mouth like a squirrel. Definitely odd.

Well it is getting cold.... not sure where he's getting nuts from though. lol This is what happens when we watch animal planet next to our tanks... gives the fish weird ideas

He may have been pinched by an Emerald Crab...I do not see any marks though.

My hippo has been doing the same thing lately but with both fins in a up right possion? Is this a disease?
