no its definetly not aptasia cause when i glow my flashlight on it, it waits then goes back inside the hole then comes out when i stop flashing it.

eunice worm sticking it's head out of rock. . . ?
aka The Bobbit Worm? my tank is a 13 gal nano tank i have 2 clownfish and 2 shrimp and a few hermits crabs, should i be worried?

I don't know that it is a bobbit worm, but my first thought was that type/family of worm. . . that said maybe I'm just seeing a boogieman when in reality its just a coat rack hahah

Definitely a worm of some kind. Looks like a predator of some kind.Remove it if you get the opportunity for prudence sake.

I agree. The head looks like one of the dangerous worms. I would try to remove it.. gently. Don't want it breaking and giving you the gift of two worms.

It's not a Bobbit worm, those are sandbed animals and aren't really found anywhere that live rock is collected from any more. It's likely a eunicid of some sort, but plenty of species of eunicids are scavengers and/or algae eaters. The ones that aren't are normally threats only to coral, not to mobile animals.

Here's a great resource...

That link is going to haunt my nightmares and give me chest pains the next time I have to lift up a rock in my aquarium lol

Dang it! I clicked on it. Never gonna sleep again...

Oh, looks like you've got one of the black ones with a white collar. Those eunicids are pretty common on Florida live rock, and from what I've been able to find, are harmless to everything except macroalgae. They get big and freaky-looking, but they won't hurt anything, and they are pretty cool. I'm a little miffed that mine don't seem to have lasted, I was hoping for a giant.

So i put coral glue/mold on the hole and hoped that would solve it but of course i could see it crawl in the rock in another little hole on the side and im pretty sure it has built a wall in there.
