Hair algae, pull as much of it off as you can otherwise it will coat your tank

Green star polyp, zoanthid. And yes, the start of the ugly stage - along with some green hair algae.

It shouldn't be clinging on very tightly, you should be able to just pick it off with your fingers and they'll be fine

Pull with tweezers OR using a Qtip, soak the cotton with hydrogen peroxide and after pulling the algae, dab the remainder with the peroxide.
