Any idea what this is

Spotted it growing on part of one my Forest Fires so better to be safe then sorry I broke it off and binned it but would really like to know what it is the things growing out and the red blotches.

Ignore the green algae that's cheato from where I filled bowl up from sump

Any ideas

Foraminiferans or Bryozoan perhaps, with some Hydroids mixed in for good measure. Can you get a close up/macro of the branch?

Looks like a macro algae, what type not sure but if your phosphates and nitrates are in line, probably no biggie.

Still looks like some Hydroids though, less feeding will keep them in check. The Hydroids are the little white stalks.

I would not worry about either too much unless they start to show up else where.

Nitrate 0
Phosphate 0
Calcium 400 stable
KH 9.3 stable
PH 8.3 stable
Magnesium 1310 presently pushing it up.

Digitate hydroids are the little white guys, and the red is some cyanobacteria sticking to a few of their bases.

It's a good thing I got them out if the system then. I've not see anymore anywhere

I have them all over my system; have for a long time. They don't like the light (primarily stick to the shade) and I haven't ever seen them actually sting a coral.

Everytime I overfeed my corals, these algae types comes out.

That's good to know yet they sat high up and would of been getting a fair bit of light glad I know what they are now thanks

I do not believe they are digitate hydroids. I just had an infestation and was able to kill them thanks to @twilliard . He'll be able to tell you. They might be a hydroid, but they do not look like digitate.

I'm sorry but that is not Digitate hydroids.
You will know when you have Digitate hydroids.. trust me.
I have spent many years researching and studying Digitates.
They are potent stingers if you did have them.
