Any idea what this is?

This may be a form of algae or bacteria. It wasn't present last night but here it is this morning, all over my powerheader.

Looks like sponges to me.

We don't have sponges. We don't have any kind of corals. Just a FOWLR tank. Our tanks are starting to drive me nuts.

Sponges are normal, if you ever put anything in the tank, you will get them.

It looks a bit more stringy to me than spongey but I'm definitely not a microorganism expert. Thank you for the responses.

Are they bad, good? Any way to remove them or should I just leave them be?

Leave them, they are good for filter feeding.

Sponges come in many shapes and sizes.
If it's in a place it's not attractive you can remove them.
