The little things shown centrally in the pic and dotted around. There are quite a few dotted around the tanks LR. They do not appear to do any harm as yet but do reproduce quite easily.

Any help or advice muchly appreciated!

Majano Anemone. Pest. Not sure on eradication, hopefully someone else may know and chime in :)

In my experience majanos are a little easier to deal with than aiptasia, but are still going to be a pain when you're talking about hundreds. If it were my tank, I'd use a kalkwasser slurry and just commit to a few weeks of daily injecting until they're gone. Inject into their mouth and they should melt.

Stretch,
Does the majano wand work?

Iv never done it my self but I have heard injections work the best. It does take time though.
I have also read good things about the Wand. But have never seen it be used nor know anyone who has.. but the reviews seem pretty good!

I injected them with hot lemon water and Aip X, it thinned them out for a bit but they came back. Then my friend had a file fish that went nuts on Aiptasia so I bought it and put it in my tank. I no longer have any majano the down side to it is I no longer have a pink flower nem. Gutted about the flower nem...... and this is the majano eating beast

Thanks for all your responses guys!

Due to the sheer number I think manual removal or kalk would take forever and never completely rid them.

After reading sappers post I done so more research they look like a good contender. Looks like I'll be hunting for a bristletail filefish come the morning!

Will let you know how it works out...

It could be hit and miss with a filefish, so you may need to move a few on till you find a good eater. Fingers crossed eh.....

LFS has quite a few juv ones in stock about 1 inch for £20 each. Think it' worth grabbing a couple and see if any take to the majano?

Just get one at a time they are a common find in most LFS. What corals do you have, any expensive soft coral. Files can have a taste for softies and nice fleshy LPS. I had one ages ago for a little Aiptaisa problem, never touched the Aips but liked zoas and GSP.

Hi. If you decide to purchase the File Fish, please make sure you have somewhere to move it on to once its finished its job. You could always ask your LFS if they are willing to take it back, £20 is nothing really if it does its job. Also check your local reef scene, lots of reefers have these little animals that they are ready to move on.

Just out of interest, these are also available as Captive Bred through Biota, or TMC maybe able to get one from ORA. Good luck with the Majanos.

Ok I'll stick with one, just read that they have interesting behaviour in pairs and the Mrs likes a strange fish so was thinking long term depending on suitability.

Have 5 sps frags, a sacrytpyton, three other softies. Along with 4 massive bubble tip anemones, I think should be Ok?

CAUTION WITH FILE FISH.
File fish are great for cleaning pest aptasia and majano but they also will eat shrimp, and any small crabs lost my cleaner shrimp I had for 2 years and my porcelain crab thanks to a file fish.

Just an update.... got the filefish and what an amazing job he doing first time round.... almost cleared them all... thanks for all your help!
