Any ideas what this is?

It's leaving a lovely clean trail behind it. It's about 3mm long and looks like a snail with a white body and red/yellow shell.

Maybe a colonista snail or a stomatella. Either are safe, if that's what it is. That's what I love about reef tanks, all the little creatures that pop up from time to time.

I'm finding loads of little beasties in my rocks. One that I can't get a pic of, there is a little white blob about 2mm long on the side of a rock, and I keep seeing a long, very thin white tentacle coming out about an inch, waving about and then going back in.

Lots more snails seem to be appearing too!

thats a stomatella.

A collonista looks like a turbo snail but is the size of the head of a pin.

More creatures this morning! These look less friendly than the snails.

Just bristle worms. Gross but good detrivores. Many people think they are bad and remove them when they get large. I suspect they are mostly just grossed out.

There are quite effective traps that can be made if you do decide to get them out.

I've done my best to get another picture. It's hard as he's not out for long and goes back into the rock like lightning!

Oh dear, I think it might be a fire worm. The colouring looks somewhere between the two. The head end is a pale red and it's more purple in the middle. What do you all think?

It's a bristle, not a fireworm. Bristles come in a range of reds, oranges, and flesh colors.

Definitely a bristle worm of one species or another. I've had worns like that for years with no problem
