I thought this was a spong unit Maybe but it actually looks like it has a few streamers now that are reaching out for light.

Sponges grow lots and lots of different ways. Encrusting, cups, plates, fingers, and plenty more!
 
Second pic is classic sponge. The larger holes are the water exit holes.
Looks heavily shaded?
New growth is in/towards the light?

Guessing new growth would normally be more of the random blobbyness of the original in better light?

Was current placement and shading new in the past few months or older than that?

Both pics are the same sponge just left and right. It is on a tonga branch under my pink lemonade colony.
