Im setting up a new tank due to a teardown because of dinos. Is there any way to dip snails and inverts, like a fw dip.

Hydrogen peroxide did nothing for my tank. I dont think it will help my inverts either

I'm also setting up a new tank, I do have dino in my current system but have them under control. I'd really like to not being them into my new system. I was going to qt all my corals and inverts in a sandless qt tank for a couple of weeks. The qt was set up with brand new water.

I think with corals it will be difficult to transfer them, since they suck in water, how would ypu ever know if there out of your system.

My dinos only grew on my sand, no rocks or corals. When I take them out I will do a fw dip, h202 dip and coral dip. Then into qt, 3 days no light. Then spend 3 weeks or so in qt with no sand just egg crate. Then before they go into the new system I will do the dip process over again.

I only get a very small patch here and there, when my po3 and po4 drop to low the dinos bloom more.

I get that, and no matter what, i belive that every system will have them. it's just about having parameters that are unfavorable to them bloomig. even though you dont see them, they can still be everywhere in the tank.

Are you worried about fw dip killing the corals?

No I have done fw dips on corals before. Corals are a lot hardier than people think. My h202 dips on corals are 100% h202. Once the coral is closed and soft issue is recessed as much as possible I dip into h202 for up to 20 seconds depending on the coral. I go hard on wild corals.

How long in the fw do you dip lps and sps?
Lps 3-4min
SPS 1-3 min
Nps 3-4 min
Softies 3-4 min

I have a harsh qt process that I started after getting dinos. Some corals get annoyed but after a couple of weeks they return to their self. I have a jack o lantern that bleached 20% after h202 the following day. 3 weeks later it was back 100%.

I like that idea. At this point all my sps are gone, so if i can save some acans that would be great. I will get a light for my qt and give it a try. Ill take pics so i can do a build thread on here, see how it goes.

For inverts, do you think a h202 dip would be sufficient, also at what concentration?

I have only squirted snails with h202 to kill hair algea growing on their shells. They did not like it but they did not die. I would not do that with shrimp, nems, or clams.

It took forever to find one. Honestly their overrted, but they are fun to watch. Some weeks its active, some weeks it will stay under the sand for a week at a time. It tends to be a bit more of a night dweler sometimes. As for sand sifting it makes trails. I would get another one just for the fun of watching, but dont kill yourself trying to get one.
