I have a 90g mixed reef tank with hefty amount of rock. Not overwhelming but a decent amount. I want to add 1 small piece and 1 medium piece. I have a QT that have 3 fish I bought before going into the main tank. 2 weeks to go for them. No meds have been added to the QT.

Should I quarantine the rock as well?

It’s a good idea to quarantine everything wet going to the tank especially if it was in another tank with fish.

If it live then yes you can add but quarantining the rock is good for pest

You didn't mention what kind of rock, i.e... new dry live, new wet live from a friend, old live but dried out...etc...
Need to know so we can give you the right advice

I buy from a private seller. It's wet, just not sure how old it is or how fast his turnaround is.

You could ask them.
A sniff test sometimes helps too, you can usually smell the sulpher type odor on rock that still needs to be cured.

A small amount of rock that lacks that odor should be fine, and established rock may need a light scrub and dunk to remove any dieoff like sponge that typically comes w/ new shipped rock that has been exposed to air.

Thank you. I'll definitely ask and investigate it.
