Any need to clean PVC cement dauber before storing

Does PVC dauber applicator need to be cleaned off after use, before putting back in the can for storage?
I used PVC primer (Oatey Purple) then put PVC cement (Oatey All purpose) on top. Now the cement dauber has some purple on but I just put the dauber back in the can and tightened the lid to be used some day in future. I got to thinking maybe that will shorten the cement shelf life and I should have cleaned the pruple color out of the dauber...or am I over thinking.

Over thinking. As long as the cans lid is tight, your good.

Nope. Just tighten the top good otherwise it can dry up real fast.
