Any one know what led bulbs these are ?

yea same thing i thought, but weird this is that this is a orphek fixture i thought i was gonna see something different and looks identical to my Chinese fixture , even the board to. you know a website where they sell the bulbs only?

the ones on the fixture have a black casing compared to these that are white, does that matter? also orphek claims that their bulbs are 2 watt bulbs and these are 3watt, what you guys think? i want to change the layout a little on this fixture but orphek is charging me 150 and thats not including shipping, i think thats way over priced to me , so was wondering if i can do this myself just like you would do it to a chinese fixture.

The casting color makes no difference I have used black and white that were the same color output. Never seen anyone use 2 watt leds but I would think that it would not drive the 3 watt leds as bright but maybe some others will chime in.

Bridgelux no longer makes these as they are dated. That said several Chinese Companies are still manufacturing them as 3 watt LEDs.
Overall they are not nearly as efficient as the latest Cree or Luxion LEDs. They produce significantly more heat per luminious flux.

The LEDs in our fixtures are not Bridgelux and haven't ever been. We keep our sources very close but I can assure you that you are incorrect.
As for the LED's they are 3 watt LEDs and they are under-driven to maximize the PAR per watt ratio and to help the overall fixture run cooler. Running them below capacity also creates a more consistent light over time and there is less spectral shift due to heat during the lifetime of the fixture.
Upgrading the fixture includes a complete cleaning ensuring that all components are up to standard and installing the new LEDs according to your wishes. This requires some bench time and it's usually a cheaper cost than the quoted amount.
Just a word of caution, not all LEDs are created equal and replacing the Orphek diodes in your fixture changes the spectrum. Not all 460nm LEDs will have the same spectral characteristics.
If you feel up to the task you can upgrade the LEDs yourself and we will be more than happy to help you to select the ones that do what you want.

Another thing to note Bill is that the fixture in question is several years old and comparing it to the latest Cree or Luxeon LED is not exactly an even playing field.
However, the Orphek PR156 still is a very popular fixture and there are many units out there that are holding more than their own against newer "better" fixtures. Including the latest and greatest of so called bargain fixtures.

Ive called orphek on 2 separate occasions regarding re-doing the bulb layout and ive gotten two different prices, that alone has worried me to work with them, and considering doing the work myself, and now they have responded above that the price is different again, and that the price is cheaper than the quoted amount. so what exactly is the price? The light hasnt given me any problems since ive got it, so i haven't dealt with the company and their customer service until now, although ive heard from others that have dealt with orphek that their service is not to well, and most people try not dealing with the company and usually go a different route for leds. Although, im really trying to make this light work , because i think its the best looking led fixture on the market , im considering just not using the fixture at all and going with a different brand/company. There are just so many cons i have to fix to make it work to my likings, that i believe should have came with the fixture to begin with, the fact there is way to many whites, and that they are not dimmable is just un called for in such a pricy light. I run reef radiance leds in my other aquariums and their lights get the job done, as far as growth and coloration ide put it right with this high priced orpheks for just a fraction of the cost. at the end, im still willing to make this light work and give orphek a chance if they are willing to work with me, but $150 + shipping just to swap out a couple bulbs thats insane, i can use the $150 towards a new unit that will have what im looking for. Again not bashing on orphek fixtures, because they are gorgeous looking, very high quality, well made and reliable, but they need some tweaking.

Just wanted to stop by and correct my experience with my Orphek fixture. So after orphek getting in contact with me and getting all my questions answered and educated on these orphek fixture and how they are so unique compared to the other fixtures on the market , i decided to not change the layout , and just give the light a try. After about 3 weeks of running these lights all i can say is WOW! what an amazing light. polyp extension has doubled, the colors that came out of my corals are amazing, and im already seeing growth. Also love the spectrum, its such a natural look. I dont know why i dont see more hobbyist running orpheks. The best quality and performing light out there, with awsome customer service to go with it. Got to say running orpheks only from now on. :bigsmile:
