I picked up the new to me tank last night and I gotta do some cleaning (I'll start another thread for that) but it came with a system rated SCA skimmer. Is it worth shining up and using or should I chuck it and get something else? Looking for opinions. Thanks.

I ran an SCA-301 in an old 60gal I had for a solid 3-4 years without an issue until I changed tanks. Skimmed decently and was pretty quiet inside of my stand.

I Think this is a 302....I've been kicking around getting a curve 7 but if it's not needed then I'm not gonna do it. This thing needs a LOOOOONG soak though. Any ideas on how to remove the scale and crud? Would citric acid nuke the plastic?

I’ve only seen vinegar being used. I would think citric acid would be ok, but have not tried it myself. I would clean it and give it some time to break in and see how it works for you. I run my skimmer off and on for no solid reasoning other than just because sometimes.
