Any reason not to use this pvc board from Home Depot for the bottom of the tank? Description calls it a "vinyl" material that's mold and mildew resistant. Thanks.

Typically any time you see mold and mildew resistant it indicates they have added something extraneous that could potentially be harmful to your tank. But, the best way to know for sure is to call the manufacturer. They are usually pretty good about that kind of stuff.

That's why I'm asking. Could it be like silicone with an additive, or is it the fact that pcv is mold and mildew resistant by its nature?

Imagine it’s probably the latter. Keep in mind that cellular PVC floats. Starboard (HDPE) is a better choice.

What about as a material to build a tray in the bottom of my stand. Under the sump??

Ok for that. When I was looking at it at my store most sheets looked beat up and a lot of the edges were damaged.

Anyone know for sure now? I'm pretty sure there aren't any anti mold chemicals in this, but rather it is just marketed as that for the common homeowner who doesnt know why they wld pay more for it as trim etc.. because of it being a pvc material and won't absorb moisture and allow mold growth. But I wasnt sure if anyone can end this thread with a definitive answer & say for certain either way now that it's been around a few years.
