Josh can probably tell you more since he actually is in Alberta, but you can also try canreef.com it's pretty much a dead forum these days but the bulk of the people there were from western Canada back in the day. I would guess there almost certainly are some Alberta based facebook groups. If you have no luck finding them start your search at Reef Canada on facebook...
