Looking for an alternative to bio bricks that leach aluminum, lithium and silicon...

Ran across siporax...anyone use this in SPS tanks still?

Issues at all? Pro’s/Con’s?

Don’t have much rock in the display and looking to supplement in the sump. Don’t have a ton of Avila me space hence looking at bio bricks or siporax.

I use Siporax and like it. Keeps my NO3 lower, but doesn’t seem to have as much of an affect on PO4. It seems to keep the tank a bit more stable than the other methods I've used in the past like Marine Pure.

Have you looked at matrix?
I’ve used seachem matrix, problem is they’re tiny little things. They have pond matrix which is bigger.

I have siporax in my sump. I feel like it's almost too efficient. If I don't dose nitrate and phosphate they'd be at zero.

Definitely affects NO3. I prefer to have mine lower so I can dose it to where I want it.

I have a bag in each of my Sps systems. My N03 is in the 5-10ppm range. Neither of my systems have a lot of rock.

I ran a significant amount of Siporax in a sump on a 90 gallon I have since taken down. The Siporax was a mess and a detritus trap. I know others like Siporax/have had success with it and my distaste likely has a lot to do with my poor implementation of Siporax (which was housed in plastic/acrylic baskets in the sump). My thinking at that time was to encourage bacteria, bacteria diversity and surface area (particularly since I started the tank with dry rock). At least in my case, it was a waste of money and I ended up throwing it out.

Thanks. How to you have it in your sump? Just tossed in? Or in a basket of some sort?
