Any SPS dominant tanks with Kessils?

16inches over the water seems excessively high though.

I've got the a160 over my 17g rimless tank. I want it to be mainly an sps tank. Should this be enough for my small tank?

Good luck w/the move! I moved ALL my livestock from a 75g in Richmond VA, to a 90g in Jersey City, NJ in January. This wasa about 11yrs ago. Only a shrimp died b/c I crushed it while unpacking

. My secret was to take the gravel in 5g buckets, 1/2 my water in containers, and keep the temp in my truck at 80 degrees. I wore a tank top the whole way. My poor dog was NOT happy

As for the kessils - I have 2 360we's on a 90g and some SPS's. I run 10" above the line at 80% peak power. I'm still experimenting so interested in this thread. Some sps's are doing well, others just meh. None died. All could be growing faster. I think water quality has more to do than the lights at this point. I saw a difference when getting my Geos calc reactor and adding a few fish. I was running fallow after an ich outbreak brought in by a tang. Waiting to see what the next 6mo will bring.

I'm assuming you are implying that it's odd to only 40% color? It actually makes a lot of sense if you watch the BRS video on LED's. They've recently released it on their 160g tank build youtube series. I found it VERY informative when it comes to the Kessils and LED's in general. Basically, what they state is that Kessil has programmed the correct color spectrum for these lights and only let you tweak the non-blue colors (reds, etc). Reason being is that the blue side of the spectrum is what feeds the corals and the other colors are pretty much muted in the ocean anyhow. So the difference b/w the 40% color and 100% is simply more reds, yellows, etc. The graph they showed did it far more justice than my explanation

. After watching the video, I no longer keep my color above 50% b/c those colors aren't helpful and may even contribute to undesired alg. growth. I would love to get other's experience w/this as I've only just started to make these chg's w/color in the last month or so.

That's the settings I'm currently running now. I have the narrows but my color is at 45 max and intensity is at 100% and my lights are 12 inches above the water line. That's when I noticed color and growth when I changed my settings from 65-70 color and if my intensity was above 65% corals suffered or died.

Got alot ot sps frags almost 90% sps with kessil sky blue150 over my 29 cube got 26 frags of sps everything grows like mad cant wait to get into another bigger tank

I've got a 60 cube (24" x 24" x 24") with one Kessil 360w. About 3 months ago, I overhauled/restocked my tank and got rid of the montipora which was overtaking the tank and switched to primarily sticks, which is why my tank is fragville at the moment. I've been getting good growth and good color. This is a pic of my ORA Red Planet. The place I got it from had it under heavy duty MH which sort of bleached the color out of it. It had literally zero green on it (which ORA says will happen under intense lighting). Within a couple months it got beautiful green and the tips got super pink. Sorry, just taking pics with iPhone so they aren't very good.

Here's the overview so you can see my one dinky Kessil over my 60 gallon tank. There is even a maxima clam on the bottom that seems quite happy. Yes, I'm also sumpless.

Last pic. I glued this frag to this rock at the end of June. You can see how much the base has spread in just a month and a half. This also had no green coloration on it when I got it. It was a bleached reddish/white because it was being grown under super strong metal halide.

I run mine at 100% intensity for 8 hours starting at 45% color ramping up to 75% color at midday and then back down to 45% color. After that I run minimum intensity and the minimum color for another 5 hours so I can still see it while I'm sitting in my living room.
