I have a 90g tank. I have been running an eheim canister filter. Well now time to upgrade to sump. I've got the HOB overflow, the Eshopps sump and automag pump. However, in setting up tank originally, I didn't leave enough room on backside of tank. Need to move tank 1 1/2 to 2 inches. My best guess is to siphon water from tank into buckets and move tank and then replace water. Just wondering if anyone has any better ideas?

If you had a few rubber maid 30 g trash cans then you could put the water in them for the time being. The tank is still going to be extremely heavy I'm sure since you have live rock I'm assuming. So what you could also do is move the live rock into the trash cans too while you move it. Have someone help you move the tank once you have all the water in the cans. I would probably do a larger water change than usual too just in case.

I have found that I can dremel a 1/4 inch from the behind the door on stand and the sump will fit in perfectly. Most of the new 90g stands have a small 1 inch divider between the doors, mine is 2 1/2 which is causing the problem. If I drain to Rubbermaid trash cans, I am thinking I can siphon to sump and let pump fill the tank. Would that be the best way? If I can't dremel door opening?
