I’m looking to start adding coral to my tank and was wondering ways to increase the growth of coralline algae. I want to put a green starburst polyp on my back wall and I know I’ll need the coralline algae there.

It will come naturally as you buy corals (which tend to have coralline on them or their plug). The most important thing is to keep your calcium, alkalinity, magnesium and pH at desirable levels. Coralline isn't necessary for anything in your aquarium and over time it may actually begin to consume elements you will need to replace in your tank. I personally wouldn't worry about it (some people scrape it off rocks of friends aquariums to add to their own).
