Hey there. I have a biocube 32 tank with 20lbs of dry Rock, 20lbs of live sand, InTank media basket with filter floss and a bag of SeaGel, InTank refug basket with cheto. The tank has been cycling for 23 days. My tank perimeters are the following:

Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0.25
Nitrate: 10
Phosphate: 0.05
Temp: 78.4
Salinity: 1.026

I have just added a snowflake clown, small Watchman golby, and 6 snails. I have diatom growing all over the rocks and sand but the snails are kicking butt on that issue.

Any tips or advice?

Sounds like a nice set up, pics? Dom is right, gotta be patient for quite a while

Once all the nasty algae has time to run its course and coralline starts covering things then you are ready to roll. But patience is key, don’t expect additives to speed things up. This forum is LOADED with stories of tank crashes caused by messing with things. It’s tough to sit back and do nothing but it’s the best course of action. If you feel the need to meddle, change a little water and scrub your rocks, or clean a pump or skimmer. Biology knows what to do on its own!

When does a tank officially mature?

There is no set time....

See that brown stuff on the substrate? That is an indication that the tank is new. It is commonly called "new tank uglies".

As your tank matures, that stuff will disappear. In the mean time, manual removal is all I would recommend. Don't fall into the trap of adding products to the tank to fix problems such as this. PATIENCE!!!

It depends. It does not take a year unless you want anemones, and even then a lot of people have added anemones to the tank without ill effects, (including me). For the nitrogen cycle to be complete nitrites need to be zero. Your tank still has a no-zero nitrite reading which is suspect. Stick with the livestock you have until the ammonia and nitrite levels are zero before you add more. Then go slow. The next livestock I would add would be more CUC

Very pretty, I love it!!! [emoji173]️Mine is 28 days old, and I already started getting green and purple coralline!! Lots of people says it’s impossible, but I believe not every tank will be the same, the only part that I know it will be the same for everyone is that it needs to cycle. I had to bring a guy who works for one of the best lfs close to my town and he confirmed that it was coralline! He is super knowledgeable! So my point is that I think every tank will mature differently. Also, I am not saying to not listen to what people here says because they were the ones that helped me thru my tank cycling and it was the best advice ever, I didn’t think my tank was going to survive lol. So always follow advice when in doubt!! :) sorry long post lol

It sounds to me that you are headed in the right direction. Everything looks normal. Just be patient

Nice set up. I like the rock. Keep the pix coming

I’ll let you know. :) Mines 11 years old, and it was an upgrade from my 5 year old 90. Still waiting:):)
