I'm wondering if there are any tricks to get my two-bar rabbitfish to eat on my bubble algae. I've had this critter for about 2 months but he never seems to want to pick at the rocks.

I feed nori twice daily and I'm wondering if I should cut back on nori feeding. Between him and my purple tang they share 1 strip daily.

I am currently running an ulns but even after going to a low nutrient system it still grows back. I've had Ruby mithrax and emerald crabs before but they started eating my lps after a few weeks.

Phosphates .01-.02 ppm
nitrate 2.5

Thanks for stopping by. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Bubble algae isn’t The natural food of theses fish. Maybe one in a hundred fish will eat bubble algae. It would be a fishes last choice of food to eat. I found the best way to kill bubble algae is to cover it completely with expoxy. https://www.marinedepot.com/video/w...DOaPzyUEsNoi3Pix3wAQR476LLtv_zcaAkcBEALw_wcB&
This epoxy is purple in color so it doesn’t stand out. Keep it on the rock for 6 months before you remove it if you want to. It will kill the algae and take care of the problem.

Meant to reply to this earlier. Thanks for the info I had thought they snacked on bubble algae because what I read on LiveAquaria. He's still a great fish with a great personality which is the main reason I got him.

I might try the epoxy in a few spots there's probably only 4 or 5 spots in the whole tank.

Thanks again!

You get people that say that but in most cases don’t bet on a fish to do that with bubble algae. It’s like with peppermint shrimp and aiptasia. They will eat aiptasia but only when it’s the only thing they have to eat. Peppermint shrimps are lazy and will eat fish food first before looking for aiptasia to eat. You have to be careful with bubble algae if you break the bubble it will send spores in the tank and you get more bubble algae.

I know it's been a bit but it hasn't been spreading much on the rocks and I've been having to pull it from zoas and give them a dip in a diluted Hydrogen peroxide dip after cleaning.

Anyways my question was I do have 1 spot on my rockwork and was wondering if I just cover it with the epoxy or can I crush the bubbles once they are covered on all sides?
