is there any kind of treatment for syno algae .. i have never had it but a friend has a tank set up and she is getting it on there sand bed .. any help would be great ..

^+1 to Murfman...

That is the ONLY way to keep it away. There are many different snake oil treatments that work on the temporary but never work long term...

see someone told them there light cycle was to much .. they are running a 4 bulb T5 fixture and running them about 10 hours a day total ..

Well let them know that's not it... I run my 6 bulb T-5 setup about 10 hours per day too and I have ZERO cyano visible. It can come up with old lamps though because the colors shift over time and can cause algae growth to occur.

what color of cyno, green or red? I have found that excess nitrates feed the red and use of GAC helps, a long with water changes with quality RO/DI salt water. The green I have found to really respond to excess P04 and old Actinic 03's; try some GFO and change your 03's if older than 8 months.
