I have the Red Sea RSK 300. This is my first skimmer, so I’m not sure if this noise level is normal. It’s not super loud , but does make some noise. It’s the loudest thing I have on the tank right now. Does R2R have any tricks on how to decrease the noise??

It already comes with an air silencer, so should be able to rule that out.

Can you dive into the below link and ask for help?

I have the same skimmer, but I would think the skimmer is always gonna be loudest thing in the setup, because of sucking in the air and creating bubbles.
I swapped out the silencer with a CO2 scrubber (Fauna Marin Skim Breeze) to increase pH. While the sound level didn't go down, it's now a lower pitch sound - the silencer made a higher pitch sound. Moving the reactor around changes the sound, I have it now on a contraption made from my kids' Duplo blocks, as putting it higher in the cabinet decreased the effect of the cabinet becoming a loudspeaker cabinet.

They're real quiet if you unplug them!

But seriously, maybe try different water depths to see if that helps.

lol
Ran the Red Sea C-Skim 1800 for about one year (2013 - 2014).
Came with our Red Sea S-Series.

Wife had enough... ;Sour (2014) and went BK Mini 160, worth every dime. Dead silent and stays dialed in.

Mine made noise out of the air silencer. I used to put a 6-8 inch length of tubing on the air intake ports. It knocked it way down.

Thank you all. Like i said it’s not super loud. I can’t hear it in the next room. Before when I just had the return pump and power heads it was almost no sound. But the skimmer I can hear. Just wondering if there was some tricks to make it more quiet. Any one use those foam tiles that absorb sound ?
