Any vertex omega 130 users???

So just installed my new vertex 130
And of course it was overflowing like crazy so I did some research and it says to let it run without the collection cup for 24-48 hours to break in its in about 6-6.5 inches of water

Do you guys have any pointers for me?
About the break in process and to leave the collection off?

I picked one up about a month ago for my frag tank. I think the instructions do the trick pretty well. Adjusting the intake on the pump was the adjustment that took the longest to tune. I picked up one of the biopure 4" blocks and use that as a skimmer stand. After about 1 week I got it tuned in and it's pulling out some pretty stinky, dark skimate.

I have the 150. Do you have the wedge pipe open all the way?

i had one on my last tank...it normally takes a couple of weeks to break in. I set mine so the water level was just barely above the outlet opening on the stand pipe.

I have mine set to the outlet almost out of the water because that's what everyone said works the best

So did most you guys let it overflow with no cup for like a day?

Where is the adjustment part on the pump?

I ran mine without the cup for a couple of weeks. I can't remember where I had the adjustment on the pump set.

Yeah, everything I'd read when setting mine up was that the Vertex skimmers took a couple of weeks to break in and in my experience it did. With the pump adjustment I'd wait till it's finished breaking in before starting to play with it.

How do you know when it's done breaking in?

I've had mine running for a little over a week, overflowing into the cup (drain line back into the sump). Water level is right at the top of the outlet pipe.

Will the bubble level drop over time during the break in cycle?

Yes it will, the air draw on the skimmer is way to powerfull. So its going to take a while to break in. Mine took over 2 weeks to break in.
