I have a small 7g that has been running 4 or 5 years now? It is just a 1/2 inch acrylic AIO from Micro-Reefs. Light was a coral compulsion Par38 for the first few years but is now a Nano-Box Tide. I use a MP10 for flow.

I have many different anenomes, I had a fluffy sculpin and crevice kelpfish but lost them in a power outage, the nems fair well with swinging temps though so didn't lose any of those. I have a 1/15 JBJ Chiller set at 55 degrees. I feed frozen mysis or LRS every day but used to feed weekly which was fine but they started making babies when I started feeding more.

I have matrix in the back chamber because my rock is not porous and use filter floss. I am slowly working on setting up an algae scrubber. I try to do water changes weekly but its more like every 2 weeks or monthly.

The original cycle took MONTHS for me since it is cold water.

A good resource is the Cold Water Marine Aquarium Owners group on face book. I know Matsu Collections sells cold water live stock, there are some others I can't remember. I sold a few of my own nems when they made babies/split.

Thank you so much, it really sucks their arent alot of coldwater reefers. Your tank is beutiful. I am really intrested in anenomes such as the aggregating and green surf anenome. Have you ever kept a tropicl reef and if so can you tell me if the cold water nems are more or less hardy than the tropic nems and lps corals. I myself have a 5 gallon tropical reef but want to make a 6.8g imaginarium tank into a coldwater anenome tank. Are the anenomes you have hardy. Also what fid you used to feed your fluffy sculpin, i would like to get a tidepool sculpin.

Thankyou so much

I have three tropical reef tanks.

They are more hardy if you keep the tank chilled and feed them at least every few days. That is all they really need.

I never have to top off as there is no evaporation and I never test or dose anything...just change the water. You can certainly grow gha and pest algae if you let the tank get too dirty between water changes. The nems won't be bothered by pest algae and I have never seen dino :)

I fed my sculpin mysis and LRS...they are easy and greedy eaters. They don't seem to have the issues as tropical reef fish....I have never seen anyone complain about velvet or ich.

I have seen three, Two when lived in San Diego . The other was at the Tampa Bay Aquarium . Very cool !
