Anybody elses hipppo tang do this ....?

Just curious if anybody else has a blue tang that routinely flashes his black stripe in a yellow/white color? Mine does it on an almost nightly basis shortly before he goes to bed at night - as you can see when only some of the blue led's are still on right before lights out.

I used to have a pair and the other was larger - about the size that this one is now - and he would do the same thing at night with the current one joining in some nights and not others. When the larger one went tile surfing on me I did not see this one doing at all again till about 2 months ago - when he reached about the same fairly large size.

It is not caused by stress or fear or excitement ..... just wondering if anybody else has seen the behavior and when it occurs?

Just curious, how big are yours? Have they done it all along or did they begin displaying it when they reached a certain size? Have you ever noticed it at any other time besides 'dusk'?

That was definitely my impression when I had the pair of them together .... but now that I only have the single I just don't know.... just been chalking it up to one more bizarre behavior from the silliest fish in my tank!! :laugh:

Sure enough I've seen this from a few tangs. Colors can change rapidly based on their moods. My hippo, bariene n vlamingi all color flash. The vlamingi will go from silver to dark green actually. Only started doing it after it got a little larger.

........what, me worry?
