Anybody have an acropora craterformis?

I have seen a few on divers den and never noticed them before now. Anyone have a colony or grown it before? If so what’s the growth structure turn out like in an aquarium? Do they stay tan with green polyps? I love the odd growth certain acropora have and even though I hate encrusting corals this piece has me curious.

It's been reclassified to Isopora crateriformis. I bought one from divers den recently. It's turning kind of a purplish base color, white growth edge, and bright green polyps.

I also noted them and wondered if they were just spreading but eventually form sticks. It appears that their growth habit is very much akin to encrusting/plating montipora.

They stay as an encrusting piece I believe. Tdecoral would you share your pic?

No one else pick up one of these? I am very surprised since all the non acro sps and such have blown up and are actually collected now.
I saw there is a branching version of this, I wonder if it’s ever been collected.

They most likely won’t branch. That’s why they have been reclassified as an Isopora, they lack radial corallites like a true acropora. They just encrust and then grow nodes or big bumps, kind of boulder like. I think you should try it though, if nothing else they’re unusual.

For sure, I grabbed one just because it’s different. And I was weary of the acropora is live aquaria used, they probably use it to just help the sales. Hoping it will provide a decent color but it’s just a shot in the dark.
