I just did about a 15% water change and everything was going fine and then I out in TLC additive and stress coat and skimmer started bubbling over profusely so I turned it all the way down and it still wouldn't stop so I unplugged it and decided to post to the forum and find out what to do. Any help is appreciated

Can't do much. Skimmers hate additives to the water column, absolutely hate them. Use RO/DI water then you won't need to add stuff to the water. But if you must use tap water, and add things, you will go through this problem. It will subside, just give it a bit of time.

Absolutely!!
So why did you add all that other stuff to it? No need to.

If you are using Nutri Seawater all you have to do pour it in. The water is perfect right out of the jug.

Yeah skimmers go crazy for all sorts of reasons, sometimes it's additives, sometimes if you stick your hands in the tank the oil on your skin can set them off. Basically just have ride it out.

I was told that the TLC additive was beneficial to a tank so I have been putting it in for the last few months but I just got this skimmer so I'm not really use to using one because I had a previous one for a few weeks but it didn't really work so I got the Coralife skimmer. The stresscoat was added because I added an engineer goby today and thought it wouldn't hurt to add the stress coat in case the fish were stressed from the new addition to the tank. Should I not have done this and why?

It's not that's it's not beneficial, it's just that's what skimmers do, they pull stuff out. Coral food is beneficial but you turn your skimmer off while adding it so it's doesn't pull it out.

35+yrs of aquarium keeping and have never used Stress Coat. IMO it is one of those waste of $$ purchases! Your skimmer is acting normal. Mine freaks out every time I use Selcon :)

I also think it is a waste of money. Some LFS will try to sell you anything. I've had them just put it on the counter and say, "Oh, you'll need this."

IME with the Corallife 65g, you can turn it on and let it fill up, then empty it, down the drain. Keep doing this 3 or 4 times and it will settle down. Especially on a tank that hasn't been skimmed.
