I have this one, older pic but looks close to yours. Couldn't say 100% if it's the same.. Mine came in bleached off the boat, so didn't have any name to it.

I have this one; more yellow on the main body than typical yellow tips I see.

That's beautiful.

What is funny is that the WWC Yellow Tips is one of the worst looking yellow-tip austeras that I have seen. This one, the one from Madweazl, Poletti and the Westside Rainbow Tort are all different, and better, IMO.

The lavender on this one is what makes it, IMO. The one from Madweazl is pretty darned close.

This is what the westside looks like under "trick lighting."

Mine is more lavendar on the branches, bright blue tips and polyps, and lots of translucent yellows on the base of the branches (I need to get up to par with the proper terminology). Not as extreme as the pic you just posted but I'm likely running lower PAR then most. The polyps are my favorite part of this coral, they're gorgeous.

I have a WWC Yellow tip and it's colors are insane. Maybe it's not the original and a morph as I got the colony locally. It's impossible to get good pics..........they always look dull in pictures.

Mine needs high par to keep the bright colors

Doug, do you want me to cut one for you so you can compare to what you have?

The Poletti yellow tip(beautiful aquamarine body) is much nicer than the typical yellow tip green and blue austera I see a lot, which is a dud.

I had one that looks like yours jda, but I sold my colony, I could see if someone still has it because it wasnt long ago. BigE is right too, I saw the WWC piece in a friends tank who had a collection of all really high end stuff and it was beautiful, and honestly might be the only one that isnt exactly the same as the others. His colony actually resembled a tort more than the others too, but that could change in time when it branches out more. The blue was much more pronounced in the body and coralites and it had less green. IME its all about the tank its in and placement though, each of these variants can get good results in certain tanks. So in my opinion it doesnt much matter which lineage you choose as long as its proven and you put it in the right spot for what you want it to look like. I live near Madweazl in Va and sold a lot of my variant when I sold the colony, I am not sure if its the same as his or not but could be. I agree that the best parts of the coral are the lavender polyps but in the right light and nutrients the yellow tips are actually really crazy bright. The phone I had all my pics on broke so I will have to see if any made it onto my google account.

I got the frag from WAMAS member darkseeker, near Alexandria.

Ah thanks, I cant remember if he got any of that from me or not, my SN is Piper27 of the other boards but I dont get time to visit them as much these days. I had my colony for a long time and just got tired of how fast it grew and how much space it took up. Now that I am trying to keep mostly staghorns I kind of regret selling it off though.

Ahh, cool. Yea, it is a fast grower.

I have Westside's Rainbow Tort. It is really nice, but a different coral. It is the one that is really yellow under trick lighting that I posted in post 10.

This is more than trick lighting. This has been enhanced with a photo editing program.
