I am still wanting to catch my Melanurus Wrasse. I wondered if anyone owned a Aqua Medic or similar fish trap. If so what was your opinion of it and would you be willing to rent it to me for a few days.

Use a plastic 2 litre bottle cut the neck off flip it over insert it in the bottle .. bait it with food..works great

I have a fish trap that is made from acrylic and has a closable door on a string. The only issue is you have to watch it and close the trap when/if the fish is in there.

You can borrow it if you want to swing by and pick it up. I can put it outside this evening so you can just come get it at your convenience.

Chris that would be wonderful. I just don't have room in my tank for a 2l bottle on the sand.

This trap isn't exactly small but it is only about 4" thick and rectangular. You can give it a try and if it doesn't work you know you need something smaller.

Are you doing away with the Melanurus ? My tank wouldnt be the same without mine. FLATWORMS!!

The bottle trick works best, I've used it several times myself an you don't have to sit and watch it the fish has trouble getting out. What are you doing with the melanarus? I'll take it if your near starkville...

For anything to have worked better it would have had to have caught the fish without me taking the trap out of the car!

In less than five minutes he was caught and ready to move to the settling tank. YES! Display is now minus one wrasse and plus four peppermint shrimp. Settling tank is the opposite of that. The Chromis was returned safely to the DT.

THANKS CHRIS!!! I used my old mag float to attach the trap to the front glass of the tank. Had the door not closed when I first put it in the tank I would have caught him without any food.

I put the trap back into the display in hopes of catching the tomato clown that is being horribly bullied.

How funny is it that the chromis is handing out in the trap? I was afraid he didn't realize he could get out, but no, he swims out and then back in. He is a brave fish...or maybe he is a dumb fish, but I love him regardless.

Tomato clown rescued and moved to the nano. Hopefully he will survive the stress of the move but there is no way he would have lasted much longer with EVERY fish in the DT bullying him.

Good to hear!
