Would this be a legit upgrade over the 2 mars aqua lights I'm running? I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on it.

My thought on this is slightly better coverage, room to add t5s if needed, better aesthetics(maybe?) Less wiring, and more control.

Thoughts?

I have the 45 ultra on my 90. Plenty of power to do what ever your goals are in tank. No fans, which is important to me as the tank is in our living room so no noise was a requirement. Use my iPhone to control the light. There are 4 channels with almost unlimited setting and duration of photo period. Very happy with the unit for both function and appearance. This is a solidly built product.

Do you think it would be a big upgrade over my 2 mars black boxes?

Depends on your current black box's functionality. Lots of adjustment, no fans = no noise and power savings, solidly built.

I know the functionality will be huge compared to the knobs and cheap timers.

I'm wondering if their spectrum will make the tank look better as well as the length covering more surface area.

Mike from SB Reeflights uses a better grade of emitters that seem to create a better spectrum, especially the wavelengths necessary for good coral growth. Having the 45 Ultra on my 90 completely covers the tank from end to end. I have one tall tower like structure on one end and the light works great as far as minimizing shadows.
