Interested in buying one for my tank. For some reason am not liking the kessil 160we. Pro and cons of the Noopsyche K7 Pro II

I have this light and IMO the K7 Pro II is a solid light with a far-less-than-optimal controller.

I have a pair going on two years now. My initial plan was to get some decent, temporary lighting on during an expansion, and upgrade later. After I got them programmed, they have been good enough that it felt like a waste of money to replace them. Very good lights for the price point.

I use the NPk7 v3, serious par output.
I can’t comment on the V2, but the V3 is pretty great (controller is still not great). I think they’re on sale for like 40% off right now.
agreed. Are pro 2 cheaper? I cant find any for sale.

Thanks for that. Trying to figure out a good schedule now. Trying to mimic ab+

@kittenbritches recently won some lights and could share some insight of her experiences
I'm in the minority and not in love with or having an amazing experience with NP. You can check out the link in my signature to see my settings and experience -- I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

You’re just hard to impress. Nothing wrong with that!!

I have two on my Frag tank which is basically just set it and forget it. Corals including SPS have grown very well.

LOL -- that's so untrue. I declared today the best day of my life because my new snails are doing their job. Haha!

I totally agree on the far-less-than-optimal controller. The light is frustrating which might produce good light but the controller and settings restrictions make it difficult to use. It is the only piece of hardware on my aquarium that I have had to contact support more than once, twice, ....six times.

I Ron popeiled it. I set it and forget it

billy mayes set it and forget it GIF

I maybe late with a response but hopefully helps. First I'll mention the bad. I used about 9 of these for different mixed reef tanks. I would say at about 13 to 14 months, 4 of them lost the white channel and noop support pretty much ghosted me and provided no help at all. Although I had expected bad support when I bought them, I didnt expect zero responses in attempting to help. Even Dsuny made an effort to assist after the warranty period. I have now moved away to other lights. The 2nd but minor issue is what others mentioned, the controller isnt the greatest but i rarely needed to use it once everything was set.

Now on the bright side, The V2s were at a good price point for the lighting it provides. I really did enjoy the colors of my tank and everything was happy and growing. I do tend to prefer a bit more white to my lighting, so the channel options available I felt were good enough for me. I used 4 over a 6ft tank, 2 on a 50gal cube, 3 on a 65gal. My corals consisted of lps, gonis, softies, a few sps. I never did a par test. Too lazy to borrow one, especially since my corals were happy.

I have currently moved on to XR15 G5 Pros. Primarily due to buying everything(remote, new mounts, light) for the new noops, I would average a little over $300 per light which I didnt feel was worth it if I didnt trust the support. If i could easily have replaced with other V2s I would have probably still kept them longer but noop was quick to stop allowing the sales of that V2 model and I couldnt find any used ones for sale.

Have you been sent me a message on R2R or on facebook? I can't find your PM. By the way,where/when did you purchase them?Local Retail shop or which website?

I'm using a K7 Pro II and a K7 V3. They're both great lights.
